We've been best friends since we were kids. While our paths took us to different corners of tech, Ryan spent a decade at Apple leading Agent Systems for Siri, and Clay built ML algorithms at Amazon for five years—we always knew we'd build something together.

The idea for Lumio came from our friend Taylor, who's spent over 10 years in self-storage running acquisitions at Red Dot Storage and founding Storage Exchange brokerage firm. He kept telling us about the same problem: operators were drowning in calls, paying fortunes for hold time, and scaling headcount instead of technology. The call center model was broken, and nobody was fixing it. Taylor would join us to head up our sales team.

We'd spent our careers making AI work at massive scale. Ryan at Berkeley and Apple, Clay at Stanford and Amazon. We knew we could build something better.
